Milt Looney Honors Loved Ones with a Scholarship and an Estate-Plan Gift

Col. Milton A. Looney (Ret.) first learned of UAH when the original campus was still located at the old Butler High School. "We were hiring accountants to assist with Department of Defense auditing," he says. "Dr. Eugene Bryson sent me recent graduates, and they were all impressive."
A few years ago, Milt created the Leigh Ann Looney Memorial Scholarship to honor his late daughter's memory. When he met with his attorney recently, Milt also wanted to create a legacy for his late wife of 47 years, Margie Rose, and arranged an estate-plan gift to UAH through his trust. "When I learned of the Neighborhood Nursing Program, I decided it was a fitting tribute to honor her memory," he says. "Neighborhood nursing strengthens our community by connecting education, service, and innovation. Margie would be proud."
Milt was fortunate to enjoy four careers as a member of the Army, an auditor for the Department of Defense, the owner of a CPA consulting company, and a college lecturer - but his favorite job was teaching government contracting accounting. "I planned to teach for two semesters but taught for ten years."
He encourages others to join him in making a planned gift to support future UAH scholars. "UAH plays a crucial role in strengthening our community," he concludes. "Supporting UAH means investing in a brighter future for all of us. I wanted to be a good Samaritan, believing this was the best way to honor my late daughter and wife. It creates a legacy in a place that was the most cherished part of my career."
